Michael Eaton

Composer for video games and chamber ensembles

ABOUT

Picture
Michael Eaton is a composer and pianist from the small town of Leslie, Michigan. In 2022, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition from Michigan State University. Growing up, Michael drew inspiration from the wild cacophonous nature of the internet and the pop-culture explosion in the 2000's. He has since sunk his teeth into and written for countless different forms of music: musicals, jazz band, marching band, film, symphony orchestra, flute quartet, and many more, winning 2nd place in the national MTNA composition competition with his piece for saxophone quartet "Entertain It".

Although he enjoys the variety, he has always been thrilled by video games and video game music. With a rigorous music education from MSU and the EAMA summer institute in Paris, and a hardcore passion for all types of video games, he aims to bring a more scientific approach to making amazing, original video game music that can inspire others, and he wishes to magnify the currently limited scope of attention that academia has on video game scoring by teaching classes and advocating for a greater recognition of the medium as a whole.
